The Applied Google Data Analytics micro-credential is awarded to learners who complete two courses, earn a Google Data Analytics Certification and demonstrate the application of a collection of competencies resulting in a portfolio of their work.

Program Overview

To earn this Level IV Badge, you will apply working knowledge of essential data analysis platforms including when and how to use them in the data lifecycle, translating a business question into a data analysis exercise, distilling findings from data into actionable takeaways and working with data responsibly.

You should pursue this micro-credential if:

  • You are an undergraduate student at Quinnipiac or another university

  • You are interested in earning transferable credits

  • Your curricular and career aspirations would be improved by earning a recognized industry certification in data analytics

This program can be completed entirely online and is offered in accordance with the for-credit courses that comprise the micro-credential. Both courses are held online in 7-week formats. Please refer to the Course Catalog for the most recent information regarding course sections and schedules.

Learning Outcomes

All learners who complete the required training will earn a Level IV Badge.

  1. Complete DS 205: Data, Data Everywhere (3 Credits). In this first course, you will learn about the data life cycle and data analysis process, practical data analytic skills, data preparation, data ethics and data privacy. You will use spreadsheets and SQL.

  2. Complete DS 206: Data Analytics Scenarios (3 Credits). In this second course, you will learn to organize and analyze data, visualize and present data findings and examine case study scenarios. You will use Tableau and R.

  3. Complete a professional project demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities.

  4. Create a portfolio reflecting the professional projects completed through the two courses.

  5. Submit your portfolio to a professional in the field or career coach alongside a reflection paper identifying how the results of the portfolio review will be integrated to improve use of the professional portfolio.

  6. Complete the Google Data Analytics Certification through Coursera embedded in for-credit courses.

Assessment of completion of micro-credential requirements is completed by faculty evaluators through the completion of required courses.

All students who complete a micro-credential associated with academic credit or co-curricular experiences will receive a designation on their transcript and a digital badge through Credly. Micro-credential earners are encouraged to share their achievements on resumes, social media platforms and e-portfolios.

Learners can begin their pursuit of micro-credentials at any level; individuals who are new to the field are best suited for Participation or Level I badges, whereas experienced professionals might be more interested in advanced Level III Badges or Level IV Certifications.
