Program Overview

Within this Level III Badge, learners will navigate a trajectory of coursework that imparts the foundational skills and advanced knowledge needed to acquire, interpret, appraise and integrate research across physical therapy. Learners will investigate topics of interest and utilize research methods, scientific writing and statistical analysis to inform a research product. The micro-credential culminates with disseminating the outputs of this research through varied forms of presentation.

Learning Outcomes

All learners who complete the criteria will earn a Level III Badge.

  1. Complete PT 686: Scholarly Inquiry I (2 Credits)

  2. Complete PT 687: Scholarly Inquiry II (2 Credits)

  3. Complete PT Capstone (1 Credit)

  4. Complete 10 hours of data collection or analysis

  5. Disseminate research work via a poster, paper and/or presentation demonstrating the integration and application of knowledge gained through data collection and analysis to clinical, professional or community audience. 

Completion of the micro-credential requires learners to earn a passing grade in each curricular thread course. Assessments in these courses may include written examination and quizzes, assignments, projects and written or oral reports or reflections. The faculty leading the associated research project will determine if the student has completed the required 10 hours of data collection/analysis. The assessment of final products may include one or more grading rubrics; these may be subject to change due to faculty discretion based on each individual research project.

Learners can begin their pursuit of micro-credentials at any level; individuals who are new to the field are best suited for Participation or Level I badges, whereas experienced professionals might be more interested in advanced Level III Badges or Level IV Certifications.
