Learning Outcomes

This training is focused around experiential learning; you will have many opportunities to apply and practice mediation skills and receive feedback. All learners who complete the required training will earn a Level I Badge.

  1. Attend and actively participate in training sessions and demonstrate a strong understanding of institutional policies, procedures, ethical considerations, FERPA and confidentiality.

  2. Present to a class, organization or departmental gathering to discuss academic integrity and accountability and avoiding academic integrity violations. Participants will complete a short self-reflection on their experience.

  3. Participate in adjudicating at least four (4) academic integrity and accountability case reviews or hearings within an academic year. Participants will receive feedback and peer review from other board members with whom they are adjudicating the case. A rubric will be completed by the candidate’s board member partner for each AIA case review or hearing in which they participate, to be submitted in the e-portfolio.

  4. Create a learning activity—video, podcast, interactive quiz or role play—that addresses one issue of academic integrity and accountability. The goal is to educate incoming board members, students or faculty.

Assessment of completion of micro-credential requirements is completed by faculty evaluators observing learner performance and completion of required components. A rubric is used to evaluate learner skills during the observations.

Key Skills Acquired:
  • Specialized Knowledge: Members of the Academic Integrity Board demonstrate an understanding of academic integrity principles and support the Office of Academic Integrity through advocating for academic integrity at QU, through their education in guiding policy improvement and through using their working knowledge in the adjudication process.

  • Experiential/Applied Learning: While members of the AI Board receive extensive training, they also learn by doing. The Case Review or Hearing process is a hands-on experience for students and faculty.

  • Communication and Reporting: AI Board members learn to be effective communicators. They arrange and conduct interviews, discuss sanctions, and communicate their findings, decisions, and rational in both written and oral formats.

  • Inquiry and Analysis: AI Board members examine cases for clear and convincing evidence of an academic integrity violation through investigation, reasoning, and critical thinking.
