Program Overview

This Level IV badge empowers you to improve the value of the healthcare system by imparting critical knowledge regarding patient safety and quality healthcare. Valuable for both employers and individual practitioners, this micro-credential will enable you to develop tools and techniques to evaluate purchased services and provide holistic care.

You should pursue this micro-credential if:

  • You are a graduate student at Quinnipiac or another university

  • You work as a healthcare practitioner or work in the business of healthcare

  • You are interested in earning transferable academic credit toward the completion of a graduate degree

Learning Outcomes

All learners who complete the required outputs will earn a Level IV Badge as well as a Certificate of Completion from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement

  1. Complete HM 621: Quality Management in Healthcare Facilities (3 Credits). This course provides a broad perspective on improving quality in healthcare facilities. You will gain a working knowledge of accreditation organizations and healthcare regulatory requirements including the JCAHCO and patient-safety legislation. The course explores patient safety and quality methods as well as the role of consumers in evaluating the quality of the healthcare services they receive. At course completion, you will be able to competently participate in healthcare quality/patient safety endeavors at all levels of provider, payer, regulatory and accreditation organizations. You may also participate in an onsite project.

  2. Develop interdisciplinary skills to evaluate the quality and safety of healthcare programs and the comparative value of healthcare offerings for business consumers and healthcare practitioners. 

  3. Complete modules from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, which are nationally recognized and highly-regarded by industry. Modules include discussion boards, analysis of current field literature and application of materials through short assignments and quizzes.

Assessment will be conducted by faculty through the course.
