On Campus or Online
The Applied Research micro-credentials are awarded to students who demonstrate proficiency in handling cognitive complexity in a research collaboration with a faculty member.
Offered as either a Level III or Level IV Badge, this micro-credential requires you to excel in making sense of data patterns and anomalies. Alongside a faculty mentor, you will practice identifying gaps in knowledge, formulating questions, analyzing evidence and generating possible explanations in situations where definitive solutions may be elusive.
You should pursue this micro-credential if:
You are an undergraduate or graduate student at Quinnipiac
You are interested in research and reflection
You are prepared to present or co-present your research at a professional conference or co-author a scholarly work with a faculty member
This program is completed in partnership with a supervising faculty or staff mentor. Depending on the nature of your contribution, work may be completed online, on-campus or in a blended format.
Both the Level III and Level IV Badges require you to contribute to an original research project or study within a faculty or staff member’s scholarly expertise — creating original content, presentations, publications or performing other creative scholarship. The nature of your contribution depends on the academic discipline of the supervising faculty or staff member as well as the modes of inquiry of the relevant field of study.
Learners will earn either a Level III or Level IV Badge depending on the following criteria.
Contribute to an original research project or study that is designed to result in a faculty or staff member’s scholarly activity
Complete an ePortfolio that describes contributions and highlights skills and knowledge gained. The ePortfolio must include a letter from the supervising faculty or staff member which describes the ways in which the student has earned the badge.
Present or co-present your research at a professional conference or co-author a scholarly work with a faculty member. (Level IV Badge only)
Assessment of completion of micro-credential requirements is completed by a jury evaluation or comparable mechanism.
Identifying problems in a range of contexts and developing effective solutions
Examing complex issues logically from a range of perspectives
Making sense of patterns and anomalies in evidence and data
Distinguishing between core and peripheral information
Evaluating and constructing evidence-based arguments
Synthesizing, integrating and adapting across contexts

Micro-credentials are flexible and versatile, designed and delivered in an accelerated format by our experienced faculty and industry thought leaders who understand critical shortages and skills gaps.
All students who complete a micro-credential associated with academic credit or co-curricular experiences will receive a designation on their transcript and a digital badge through Credly. Micro-credential earners are encouraged to share their achievements on resumes, social media platforms and e-portfolios.
Learners can begin their pursuit of micro-credentials at any level; individuals who are new to the field are best suited for Participation or Level I badges, whereas experienced professionals might be more interested in advanced Level III Badges or Level IV Certifications.
