Hosted by our School of Education, the Core Practices for Improving School Climate Workshop open enrollment program responds to guidance from the State of Connecticut that every public school district implement a Social and Emotional Learning plan and appoint a School Climate Coordinator. Over the course of three online workshops, attendees will acquire a strong baseline to begin improving and sustaining climate plans in their school districts.

Program Overview

The Core Practices for Improving School Climate Workshop is designed for K-12 educators with an interest in developing skills and competencies to address the need for climate coordinators in school districts. You will garner vital knowledge that can be applied to improving school climate and promoting mentally healthy schools over the course of three online workshops — all hosted by expert faculty from the School of Education. You will also enjoy considerable networking opportunities to connect with and learn from fellow educators from across the state, the region and the country.

Program Dates and Details

This program is scheduled for multiple sessions each year, though may select to attend any or all of the three online workshops (9 a.m. - noon). You will identify your desired workshop dates when you register to attend the program. Attendees who are present for all three sessions will qualify to earn a micro-credential from Quinnipiac University.

Sample Schedule

The 3-day online program, conducted in a synchronous format, begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Networking opportunities are integrated throughout the program, inclusive of active workshops each week.

These badges recognize that a professional or community member attended a physical or virtual course, conference or seminar and acknowledge the learner's introduction to a particular topic of interest.

What is a micro-credential?

By earning a micro-credential, learners across a wide array of industries, verticals and professional fields are able to showcase the acquisition of specialized knowledge that offers unique value in the workplace. Micro-credentials are flexible and versatile, designed and delivered in an accelerated format by our experienced faculty and industry thought leaders who understand critical shortages and skills gaps.

All students who complete a micro-credential associated with academic credit or co-curricular experiences will receive a designation on their transcript and a digital badge through Credly. Micro-credential earners are encouraged to share their achievements on resumes, social media platforms and e-portfolios.

Learners can begin their pursuit of micro-credentials at any level; individuals who are new to the field are best suited for Participation or Level I badges, whereas experienced professionals might be more interested in advanced Level III Badges or Level IV Certifications.
